Winners never quit & Quiters never win

Once a commander was on his way to a battlefield. He was in a difficult situation. He had only 200 soldiers and he had to fight against 1500 soldiers. He had to cross a big river with small boats before that battle. After crossing the river with small boats, they saw the big army of their rivals. Seeing their army, all the soldiers realized that it was impossible for them to win the battle.

But the commander was not only a brave warrior but also an intelligent strategist. He ordered his soldiers to put all their boats on fire. Soldiers were amazed but it was their commander's order and they had to obey. So they burnt all the boats with a sinking heart. They could not cross the river anymore.

As their way back was closed, they grew desperate. They thought that they had to fight not to win but to remain alive. So they fought desperately. They won the battle that was impossible.

Would the soldiers have won the battle, had they not burnt the boat? No it wasn't possible. But the clever commander realized the fear of the soldiers in the beginning. He wanted to throw out that fear. So he made them desperate.

So it is said that winners have won the battle before it begins and losers have lost the battle before it begins.

"Winners never quit and Quitters never win."

"When the going gets tough, The tough get going."

"Cowards die many times before their deaths
The valiant never taste of death but once."
William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "Julius Caesar", Act II Scene 2
